In the north eastern region of India, just south of the vast and scenic Himalayan Mountains, lays the undeniably beautiful state of Assam. Though certainly not as heavily populated as Mumbai or Bangladesh (this is arguably a feature that makes Assam all the more attractive to travelers who seek to avoid the hustle and bustle of big city life), Assam has beautiful qualities that can’t be found anywhere else in the world.
This photo of a beautiful tea garden in Assam was taken at Jorhat to be specific. As much as I’d love to visit one of these gardens and take a deep breath to smell that exotic tea garden scent, I think I’d be too self-conscious and worried that I might step somewhere I’m not supposed to or accidentally damage a precious tea leaf! © Bidyut Gogoi.
As you can probably guess from both the image above and the image below, Assam has been pretty well known for its growth of extensive tea gardens and exportation of high quality tea and tea leaves. These gardens are probably one of the most beautiful attractions for tourists but also there have been some substantial national parks and natural wildlife preserves, which have been a major cornerstone in securing the survival of nearly extinct species such as the one-horned Indian rhinoceros. But I suppose the concept of wildlife tourism is nothing new to anyone who has been to, or considered going to India, is it?
I think it’s pretty safe to assume that a place has been well renowned for a product that it produces once it starts mass producing them such as these cans of Assam strawberry milk and tea. I’ve heard they offer a much more natural energy boost than energy drinks (I’ve sworn off of them out of fear for the damage they can do to people’s kidneys and liver), and they also come in other flavors as well apparently. © Janine.
Considering all of the natural and holistic beauty that Assam is associated with, I’d be lying if I didn’t admit I was a little surprised when I found out about some of the advanced transportation available for those heading to and from Assam. Now feels like a good time to start saving up for a trip!
I’m glad to see a developing nation like India is getting more technological improvements to its already famous railway system, such as this station in Guwahati in Assam. Hopefully there will be enough room in the future so we can do away with the need for brave young men to hold onto the sides of roofs of the trains they ride! © Abhinav Phangcho Choudhury.
